Community Connection
In “Community Connection” students are asked to think about and define their communities; through a series of prompts they grow their understanding of and connect more deeply with the other members of said community.
In this integrated project pack, we explore the question, “What is a community?” through four key ideas: We all have unique ’emotional maps’ of our communities, which include places that are important to us, often for reasons that are based on our personal experience.Individuals are complex, and there are different ways that community members will experience similar things. By communicating our experiences we can come to a fuller understanding of our community.By asking questions, we can foster dialogue among disparate groups and make sure that everyone within a community is heard.‘A group’ is a collection of people, but a ‘community’ is a unique collection of people who share a common interest, background, or purpose that gives them a sense of cohesion

A for Art
*“People are supposed to add a piece of paper to the A to complete the A. We made it an A for art. We love art so anyone who thinks art is important can add to the mural. We added all the stickers to the background because we were having fun with art.”*

Color Wall
*“Our project is about how you are feeling today, we cut up squares in different colors for people to paste on there. We decided to make them squares patched together to show how it would bring people together. We also provided glue sticks.”*

“Our project asks “How are you feeling?” then people can use different colored markers and you can write how you feel or draw how you’re feeling. There are rules on the yellow paper for how people should use the project. There’s a little key where all the rules are so you can see what emotion you are so you can take the color and just draw it on there.”
